Stories for the Literary Analysis

All of the stories I have read have been very vague and hard to understand. I have been experimenting with a thesis for all three stories and I'm kind of stumped. Since the stories I've read have been very vague it is hard to get a clear idea about what is occurring. One of my stories doesn't have a strong conflict either. 

One story I read called The Looking Glass by Anton Chekov could be interpreted many different ways which allows me to create an argument from my thesis. The story leaves enough space for interpretation, and leaves you with a lot of questions. The story isn't too easy to work with but gives enough information about character, setting, and mood to create a solid thesis.
